Grayscale Eyes Expansion of Crypto ETF Offerings with New Entity Launch

In short: Grayscale Investments has launched The Grayscale Funds Trust to manage some of its publicly traded financial products in-house. It has also filed for three new crypto-based exchange-traded funds: a Global Bitcoin Composite ETF, an Ethereum Futures ETF, and a privacy ETF. Although until the filing is approved by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), none of the new ETFs will be available for public purchase. Grayscale is currently in a tussle with the SEC over converting its $17bn Grayscale Bitcoin Trust into a spot Bitcoin ETF product.

Our quick analysis:

Grayscale Investments, a cryptocurrency asset manager, is expanding its offerings with the launch of a new entity called The Grayscale Funds Trust. The move will allow the firm to manage most of its publicly traded financial products in-house. Grayscale has also filed registration statements with the SEC for three new cryptocurrency-focused exchange-traded funds (ETFs): an Ethereum Futures ETF, a Global Bitcoin Composite ETF, and a Privacy ETF. Despite ongoing conflicts with the SEC over converting its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust into a spot Bitcoin ETF product, Grayscale is still bullish on the future of cryptocurrency investment products. The new ETFs will provide indirect exposure to the potential future value of Ether and invest in companies working on blockchain-based privacy technology. Although the ETFs aren't yet available for public purchase, investors are eager for future-forward investment opportunities. With an eye on ETF expansion plans, Grayscale is forging ahead with its crypto-focused offerings.
